Tanner De Witt announces with great pride and pleasure the inclusion of Restructuring and Insolvency Partner, Sunny Hathiramani, in Asian Legal Business’ list of 40 Under 40 lawyers. This year’s line up features a diverse mix of lawyers from all over Asia; Sunny is one of only eight from Hong Kong and is one of the youngest.

ALB’s list is an annual accolade that is given to 40 of the most accomplished lawyers in Asia under 40 years old. Sunny’s selection is made all the more satisfying given that a record-breaking 400 or so lawyers across Asia submitted their profiles.

Sunny is one of the youngest high-profile restructuring and insolvency lawyers in Hong Kong. Sunny is a home-grown Tanner De Witt success story; he first joined the firm in 2008 as a paralegal and re-joined the firm as a trainee solicitor once receiving his Postgraduate Certificate in Laws in 2010. He was promoted to partner in 2019 and has been a protégé of Ian De Witt and Robin Darton, two of Hong Kong’s best-known insolvency lawyers, throughout his career.

Sunny has extensive experience in advising on a range of restructuring and insolvency issues. Sunny regularly represents insolvency practitioners, shareholders, creditors and debtors in complex commercial, winding-up and bankruptcy disputes, including cross-border transactions.

Sunny also advises and represents directors and companies in regulatory matters, including investigations by the Securities and Futures Commission and the Confederation of Insurance Brokers Disciplinary Committee. He is a member of the Restructuring and Insolvency Faculty (RIF), the International Association of Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Professionals (INSOL), and the South Asian Lawyers Group (SALG), amongst others.
